Mike * recently wrote me this:
"This is a business forum. Take your politics' and gently install where no sun shines."
To wit, I replied: "Mike, I love the sarcasm. I respect your ability to use colorful metaphors to get your point across. I salute you for stepping out and standing up for what you believe in."
After typing the whole reply, I pondered things, for a bit. "Hey! You typed many such replies." Each a bit more or less creative than the one I used to reply to Mike. "This is getting old!"
Then, I gave it some more thought.
Concluding that I typically write something to the effect of: "I would gladly comply with your request. Except, the Democrats installed a sock puppet in the White House, so that they could make EVERYTHING political (including business), just to increase their own wealth and power at the expense of most of their fellow citizens." Then it became obvious it would be best if I just homogenize this sentiment when replying to the "Mikes and Michelles" of this forum, by just typing out an article on this topic, and post a link to it every time another Mike drops into the dialog.
If you want to do the say, feel free to link to this article or cut and paste any part of it that makes sense to you, in response. Full disclaimer, these responses, usually get no reply, or the original comment magically disappears. If I get a bit wordy, these replies even get moderated from time to time.
Here is the main point of my reply:
Had the Democrats not gifted the murderous Taliban over $6B (some say as much as $80B) in US Taxpayer funded weapons, ammo, and equipment and surrendered Afghanistan to the CCP for zero concessions, I would still be talking about the business of keeping Children safe in their classrooms and keeping internals from stealing all the company inventory.
Usually closing with the hashtag, #NotAnotherDemocrat.
While everyone should respect LinkedIn and it's founders for gifting the world with a venue for us to collaborate and make the world a better place FOR BUSINESS. We should all be very polite while someone else's house. (aka - following the terms of service)
My motive for doing this is simple: I am trying to put forth the idea that "the business of the world" works a lot better when wealth doesn't give you permission to put your thumb on the scale of EVERYTHING ELSE. Our friends at "big tech" forget that the world isn't going to be homogenous according to Davos. We all have our own ideas about things. Freedom of thought and speech keeps our species strong and vigorous.
So while we all should celebrate Mike's decision to weigh in. While we should all congratulate Michelle for summoning up the courage to call us names and demand our sources!
We should also hold them to account. We should have an equal footing in the dialog. We should be able to voice our perspective. "Mike" should also be able to read this article and know that we disagree.
The rules that WORK, have not changed. The reset isn't going to happen on just ONE point of view. The box cars are not going to line up and at the decision of just a handful of oligarchs; we are NOT all just going to willingly climb aboard and expect a job at the end of the line. We ARE going to pay attention to that pile of shoes over there. No, I am NOT going to give you my guns so that you can insist on us giving you our wedding rings and family heirlooms.
I say this, because, history begs us to resist the offer to control everything for our own safety and security. Compliance can be healthy, as long as everyone gets a say-so. As soon as compliance can't withstand criticism, then we no longer have freedom. We have tyranny.
Remember, the Democrats are TELLING us what we can and cannot think; what we can and cannot say; what we can and cannot have; what we can and cannot believe. They are not asking for our point of view. No one ever asked us, "Should we give Putin 20% of our uranium?" No one ever asked us, "Should we allow all these undocumented people into our country without proper compliance with the law?" No one ever asked us, "Are ballot boxes secure? Should ballots have serial numbers on them?" No one ever asked us if printing more money is the best idea.
So, yeah, LinkedIn has gone political. It's all political now. Thank you, Adam, Chuck, Nancy, Jerry, Barack, Oprah, Bill, Hillary, and all those Davos patrons at the WEF. You now have a highly politicized business environment. (Wink at Mr. Fink.)
If you think about it; what part of human history ever went without a massive war, when everything in commerce was controlled by the buyer and seller having to pick a side? The Democrats, and NOT the GOP, are demanding we pick a side. They've been demanding that we pick a side for a long time!
Sooooooo, don't tell me what you think about LinkedIn only being for business; unless you're willing to defend why we should all just watch it all crumble around us, so Thanos can have his quiet time on planet whatever.
